All Output channels and system functions are accessible through this unified platform.

GEM is automatically set up to use the language chosen by your organization, however an admin can change this in the Administrators section.

User and Administrator Concepts:

Internally, GEM differentiates between “Administrators” and “Users”.

User: any person who has credentials (username & password) to access the application. Typically, a user opens a web browser (Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Edge), goes to the application URL and fills in the user & password fields. Users only have permission to execute campaigns in their geographic area.

Administrator (Admin): any person with permission to access all functionalities regardless of geographic location. Administrators define permissions for each user.

Alert Concepts:

Alert: all information that relates to sending an alert. This includes the list of output channels, the contents of the alert, and execution details such as target area, time at which the alert should be launched, and time at which the alert should end. An alert can be defined to use multiple output channels.

Contacts: people who are registered/subscribed in the application and can receive alerts through GEM. Contacts are also referred to as targets.

Speakers: Long Range Acoustic Devices (LRADs) developed by Genasys which are connected to GEM via satellite.
